Prosecution presents documents to support claims that Jakpa was dismissed from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF)

In the ongoing ambulance trial involving Minority Leader Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the prosecution has presented documents supporting claims that the second accused, Richard Jakpa, was dismissed from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) for unsatisfactory service and failure to pass promotional exams.

During cross-examination, the prosecution questioned Richard Jakpa about his tenure in the Ghana Armed Forces and his departure. They asserted that Jakpa was dismissed due to unsatisfactory service and failure to pass a promotional exam.

Richard Jakpa vehemently contested these claims, insisting that he was honorably discharged. He further alleged that any failure in promotional exams was due to sabotage by military officials.

However, during Thursday’s cross-examination, the prosecution submitted a document as evidence to substantiate their assertions. The defense lawyers objected to the evidence, but the judge admitted it.

Richard Jakpa was instructed to read a letter which stated, in part, that ‘all things being equal, the officer should have attained the rank of Captain on 21 August 2002 and Major on 21 August 2007.

‘He has consistently failed his promotional examinations and now lags behind his peers in rank.

‘Furthermore, his service with the Colours has been largely unsatisfactory, characterized by consistent fraudulent conduct, abrasiveness, and general indiscipline.’

In response, Richard Jakpa stated that he has no knowledge of the letter.
