Interior Minister Declares Monday, August 5, a Public Holiday

The Interior Ministry has declared Monday, August 5, 2024, as a public holiday to observe Founders’ Day, which falls on Sunday, August 4, 2024.
Interior Minister Henry Quartey announced in a statement on Wednesday, July 31, that while Sunday, August 4, is a statutory public holiday, it falls on a Sunday. Therefore, President Akufo-Addo has designated the following day, Monday, August 5, as an additional public holiday.
This declaration is made in accordance with Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601).
The public is advised to observe Monday, August 5, as a public holiday across the country.
