Family of KNUST Graduate Challenges Police and Hotel with New Evidence in Death Investigation

Written by on July 29, 2024

The family of Lois Koranteng, a KNUST graduate found dead under mysterious circumstances at a hotel in Takoradi, has raised serious allegations against the Ghana Police Service and the hotel management. They accuse the police and hotel of mishandling the investigation and misleading the public.

The family asserts that the police lied about conducting the autopsy on June 8th, the day Lois was found dead, claiming instead that the autopsy was performed on June 11th. They demand an explanation for this discrepancy.

Despite police reports stating no blood stains were found on Lois, the family claims to have photographic evidence suggesting otherwise, including a “reddish liquid” from her nose. They criticize the police for their lack of communication and transparency, revealing that aside from a planned visit, the police have not provided any updates or assurances about the ongoing investigation

They also claim the police have been unable to unlock Lois’s phone, which they believe is critical for understanding the events leading to her death.

The hotel management is also under scrutiny. The family disputes the hotel’s assertion that their security cameras were not working at the time of Lois’s death and claims to have evidence to the contrary. They questioned why the hotel dismissed its management staff following Lois’s death and replaced the security cameras three days later.

The family states that, contrary to the hotel’s claim that the pool guard had traveled on June 7th, the security guard, who also served as the lifeguard, was on duty that day. They further allege that the hotel is preventing a specific female staff member from speaking to third parties about the incident and has pressured the family to remove their social media posts addressing the concerns and revealing the truth.

The family also seeks to expose Lois’s employer, suggesting that there may be additional information pertinent to her death that has not yet been disclosed

They claimed that the company allegedly rushed to obtain her laptop password from the family just hours after her death, raising questions about their motives. The family indicated they have a voice recording of this request and are insisting on transparency from the company.

The family has presented some of their evidence and threatened to release more if the implicated parties do not provide satisfactory explanations
