The incident occurred on Thursday evening when a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene.
Angered by the lack of immediate action and frequent accidents on the motorway, residents blocked traffic to highlight their concerns.
The Police Service quickly responded, sending officers to the scene to engage with the protesters and reassure them that measures would be taken to enhance road safety and address their concerns.
Following these assurances, the road was cleared, and traffic has since returned to normal on the motorway.
