There’s no ‘Dumsor’; it’s ‘Dum sie sie’ – NAPO reiterates

Written by on July 10, 2024

Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing intermittent power outages, commonly referred to as ‘Dumsor’. He emphasized that the current administration faces distinct challenges from those under former President John Mahama, highlighting progress made by the Akufo-Addo government in tackling the issue.

NAPO, as Dr. Opoku Prempeh is known, described the current power situation as ‘dum sie sie’, explaining it as scheduled maintenance resulting in temporary power outages. He dismissed claims that the country is currently experiencing ‘Dumsor’.

Speaking at his official unveiling in Kumasi on Tuesday, July 9th, NAPO remarked,

“It is not true that we’re experiencing ‘Dumsor’ in Ghana, our type of ‘Dumsor’ is ‘dum sie sie’, which is different from that of John Mahama’s prolonged ‘Dumsor’. We turn the lights off to embark on maintenance work.

“Four-year term of John Mahama, we were sleeping in darkness, we experienced ‘Dumsor’ during all those periods. Don’t pay attention to people who say we’re currently experiencing ‘Dumsor’”.
