Inflation for June 2024 decreases to 22.8% from 23.1%.

The most recent data from the Ghana Statistical Service shows that inflation for June has decreased to 22.8%.

This marks a 0.3 percentage point decline from May 2024, when inflation was recorded at 23.1%.

In June, the month-on-month inflation rate also decreased, registering at 2.9%.

According to the Consumer Price Index data released by the GSS, food inflation was at 24.0%, while non-food inflation stood at 21.6%.

The Government Statistician, Professor Samuel Kobina Anim, provided a detailed breakdown of the figures during a media briefing in Accra on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.

“The year-on-year inflation for June 2024 stood at 22.8 percent, signalling that between June 2023 and June 2024, the prices of goods and services went up by 22.8 percent. This rate of inflation indicates a slowdown by 0.3 percentage points on a month-on-month basis as the rate for May 2024 stood at 23.1 percent.”

Professor Anim further stated that“the Upper East region recorded the highest rate of inflation with 35.20 percent, with the Oti region recording a rate of 12.5 percent.”
