Rodney Nkrumah: NAPO shouldn’t be defined by the ‘dumsor’ timetable interview.

Written by on July 9, 2024

Rodney Nkrumah Boateng, Press Secretary to Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), staunchly defended his boss’ character after he faced criticism for his casual response to a question about the ‘Dumsor’ timetable.

NAPO received significant backlash several months ago when he offhandedly suggested that those seeking a load-shedding timetable during the height of power outages should create their own.

In an interview with Bernard Avle on The Point of View on Channel One TV, Rodney Nkrumah Boateng argued that NAPO’s suitability and capabilities as a potential running mate for Dr. Bawumia should not be judged based solely on a single media interview. He emphasized that NAPO’s qualifications and strengths extend far beyond that particular interaction.

He acknowledged the frustration caused by power outages but assured that steps have been taken to address the issue of ‘Dumsor’ and ensure a stable power supply.

Mr. Nkrumah Boateng emphasized that the current power outages are significantly less severe and less frequent than those experienced during the Mahama era, underscoring the progress made in resolving the issue.

“Clearly, what pertained recently cannot by any stretch of the imagination be compared to what happened in 2014 or 2015 there about. But again. The important thing is, it is what it is, and what is being done about it and it is what the timelines are and how to ensure that power is brought back.

“Nobody enjoys power cuts, what happened happened, and those discussions have been had. And even before those discussions, people have said whatever they have to say.

“You cannot define him by just one single interview and one sentence that he said, that is blatantly pretty unfair…the important thing is that, well, fortunately now we are way past all that, and we’re looking forward to what lies ahead, and then we take it from there,” he maintained.
