Godfred Dame Assures US of Peaceful and Transparent Election in 2024

Ghana’s Attorney General, Godfred Yeboah Dame, has assured the United States and the international community of the government’s commitment to ensuring peaceful and transparent elections in December.
He emphasized this commitment in light of the global democratic landscape, with elections scheduled in over 64 countries this year. Mr. Dame made these remarks during the 248th Independence Anniversary of the USA in Accra on Thursday.
The Attorney General highlighted that both Ghana and the USA are preparing for their upcoming general elections later this year. He expressed optimism that the electoral processes in both countries would proceed smoothly, further cementing their global reputations as models of democracy.
“As we are all aware, 2024 marks a pivotal year in global democratic practice, with more than sixty-four (64) countries, including Ghana and the United States of America, preparing for national elections.
“As we gear up for these elections, I am hopeful and confident that the process will proceed smoothly, free from controversy and challenges, reaffirming the esteemed status of our nations as democratic exemplars worldwide.”
He further emphasized that the democratic process not only shapes a nation’s future leadership but also reflects the hopes and prosperity of its citizens.
“As voters in both countries exercise their democratic rights, the world will closely observe, marking the onset of a new chapter in their political landscapes. Recognizing the pivotal role of civic engagement in promoting social justice and bolstering democracy, the Government of Ghana assures the United States and the international community of its unwavering commitment to ensuring that Ghana’s forthcoming elections will be peaceful, transparent, free, and fair,” Mr. Dame affirmed.
