Afcon 2025 Qualifiers: Ghana Drawn with Sudan, Angola, and Niger in Group F

Written by on July 4, 2024

Ghana will face off against Sudan, Angola, and Niger in Group F to secure a spot in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco.

The draw for the qualifiers took place on July 4, 2024, in Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Black Stars will encounter familiar opponents in Group F, starting with Sudan, currently managed by former Ghana coach Kwesi Appiah.

Additionally, the draw sets up a rematch from the 2023 Afcon qualifying series, where Otto Addo’s side faced Angola.

Ghana will also compete against Niger, with their last encounter dating back to 2013 during the African Cup of Nations.

The four-time champions are aiming for a top-two finish in the group to secure their place in the Afcon finals for the 11th consecutive time.

The qualifiers are scheduled to commence in September this year, aiming to determine the initial 24 nations out of 48 vying for Africa’s premier event.

The Confederation of African Football has announced December 21, 2025, as the start date for the upcoming edition, which will continue until January 18, 2026.

Ivory Coast currently holds the title as defending champions, having hosted and won the 2023 edition with a 2-1 victory over Nigeria.
