Some oil marketing companies (OMCs) have started to increase fuel prices at the pump as the first pricing window of July begins.
According to energy think tanks like the Chamber of Petroleum Consumers and Institute for Energy Security, this rise is due to the increased costs of refined petroleum products on the global market and the depreciation of the Cedi.
As a result, companies like Star Oil have already raised their prices. Currently, petrol is selling at GHȼ13.83 per litre, up from GHȼ13.66 in the second pricing window of June, while diesel is now at GHȼ14.79 per litre, up from GHȼ13.97 in June’s second pricing window.
Shell is currently selling petrol at GHȼ14.80 per litre and diesel at GHȼ14.92 per litre. Previously, petrol was priced at GH14.60 per litre and diesel at GH14.75 per litre in June’s second pricing window.
Major market leaders like state-owned GOIL and Total Energies have also announced price increases.
GOIL, for example, is now selling petrol at GH₵14.80 per liter, while Diesel XP is priced at GH₵14.92 per liter.
Total Energies has raised its prices to GH₵14.85 per liter for petrol and GH₵14.95 per liter for diesel, up from GH₵14.65 in the previous two pricing windows.
