Minister of Health, Dr. Bernard Okoe Boye, is encouraging investment in the health sector to create more job opportunities for the youth.
During his tour of the Ashanti region, the minister emphasized the importance of health facilities in reducing unemployment in the country.
He made these remarks while visiting the Fomena Government Hospital in the Adansi North District and the Sekyere Kumawu District Hospital, which began operations in November 2023 and April 2024, respectively.
Both Fomena and Sekyere Kumawu District hospitals are among six health facilities and staff accommodations, part of a $175 million contract signed with NMS Infrastructure in 2012.
“I hear people say let’s create jobs, and one of the best ways to create jobs is to put up a health facility. You will have to recruit new professionals, but you also need those who don’t have special skills but can be trained to be of use in the hospital. I believe that one of the ways to create opportunities for the youth is to invest in the health sector, especially in health facilities.”
