Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has cautioned his fellow New Patriotic Party (NPP) Members of Parliament (MPs) against making negative comments about the selection of Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh as the running mate to Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
Some prominent Majority MPs, including Andy Appiah-Kubi of Asante Akyem North, have expressed disapproval of NAPO’s selection as the running mate.
Addressing the media, Afenyo-Markin urged his colleagues to be mindful of the sensitive nature of the matter, emphasizing that the party has not yet finalized its decision.
“I encourage my fellow Members of Parliament that we are in this together, and no one is perfect. The language we use should be measured and constructive. The party’s flagbearer has the confidence of the party, and I believe he will utilize the party structures to make decisions,” Mr. Afenyo-Markin stated.
He continued, “Let’s exercise patience and respect for the party’s leadership. We should avoid demeaning ourselves or using language that is inappropriate.”
