Elizabeth Ohene, Chair of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) Board, staunchly defends the integrity of the selection process that led to Rock City, owned by Minister of Food and Agriculture Bryan Acheampong, being chosen as the top bidder for a 60% stake in four SSNIT-owned hotels.

According to her, the procedure that resulted in the selection of the Member of Parliament cum Minister of State’s company was transparent and fully compliant with all regulations.

“I can state with absolute certainty that the process leading to Rock City being chosen as the Preferred Bidder was transparent, above reproach, and adhered to all rules and regulations, capable of withstanding any scrutiny,” she asserted categorically in an article titled “Coming out of the hotels.

Miss Ohene made these statements in her weekly column published in the state-owned newspaper, Daily Graphic.

This follows North Tongu MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s raising concerns about SSNIT selling a 60% stake in its hotels to a Minister of State under questionable circumstances.

Mr. Ablakwa subsequently petitioned the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ) to investigate the transaction and questioned the legitimacy of the bidding process.

However, Miss Ohene remains confident in the integrity of the selection process.

She emphasized her commitment to transparency and accountability, stating, ‘Mr. Okudzeto Ablakwa claims to have God and Ghana on his side in this campaign. I hope all of God’s angels and Ghana’s investigative agencies, both temporal and spiritual, will thoroughly examine the process and disclose any irregularity or hint of corruption. If any corruption is found, I willingly accept responsibility and expect prosecution as per the laws of the country.’
