KATH: Doctors in the Oncology Department end strike.

Doctors at the Oncology Department of Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) have ended their strike.

The health workers had left their consultation rooms on Monday, June 24, citing delays in repairing the Linear Accelerator System used for radiotherapy services, which had broken down in October 2023.

Although the machine has since been repaired, management explained that it remained non-operational due to the pending arrival of a water phantom needed to calibrate the system.

The prolonged wait for this essential equipment, crucial for treating various cancers, had left doctors in the Oncology department frustrated. Their frustration led to a strike, resulting in the department turning away patients seeking healthcare.

However, they resumed work on Wednesday, June 26, following assurances that their concerns would be addressed.
