Minority MPs Leave Parliament to Support Ato Forson

Written by on June 20, 2024

The Majority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, expressed surprise at the absence of minority members from parliamentary proceedings.

The Minority caucus previously stated that they would refrain from participating in chamber activities on days when their Leader is scheduled to attend court for the ambulance purchase case, choosing instead to wait until the court’s daily sessions conclude.

Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, Annoh-Dompreh remarked on the minority’s choice to refrain from parliamentary duties, viewing it as an illuminating gesture.

“… It is quite a big surprise to me…They have elected to be absent.”

“Clearly they are demonstrating their true colours to the Ghanaian people,” he stated

Meanwhile, upon their arrival in the house, Minority Members raised a quorum concern, prompting the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Andrew Asiamah Amoako, to initiate the adjournment process due to insufficient MPs present to conduct business.
