We don’t necissitate any military officers at voting centers-Bagbin

Written by on June 12, 2024

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has emphasized the necessity of restricting the military from polling stations in the upcoming December 7 general elections.

He mentioned that his office would engage the President, flagbearers of various political parties, security services, and other stakeholders on measures to ensure free, fair, and credible elections.

In his opening remarks in Parliament on Tuesday, June 11, Bagbin stated that the military must stay away from polling or voting centers unless called upon to handle a situation.

“We don’t want to see the military during the election. If there is a need to call them, they will be called, but they should not be at polling or voting centers.

“Honorable members, the clergy, and notable civil society leaders will be actively involved. The current signs and signals in the country do not reflect assurance and hope.”
