The Flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has emphasized that his proposed 24-hour economy initiative offers a solution to Ghana’s financial and economic challenges.

During a special live broadcast titled ‘Mahama Conversations,’ where issues of national interest were discussed, the former president underscored that the 24-hour economy initiative addresses both present and future challenges in Ghana.

Mahama highlighted that this initiative would foster a conducive environment for businesses, companies, and government agencies, leading to increased job creation and employment opportunities.

He elaborated on the benefits of the 24-hour economy initiative, emphasizing its potential to enhance the standard of living for many Ghanaians.

“The 24-hour initiative is the solution for both present challenges and future prosperity. It will establish an enabling environment through intentional policies, allowing businesses, companies, and government institutions to operate round the clock in a three-eight-hour shift system.

“In addition to the conventional 8-hour shift, my administration will introduce two additional work shifts, effectively doubling or even tripling the job opportunities in both public and private sectors.

“This 24-hour economy optimization strategy aims to benefit society by enhancing service delivery efficiency and creating numerous decent, well-paying jobs. The advantages of this system will encompass, but not be limited to, 24-hour port and harbor services, customs services, DVLA services, agro-processing factories, manufacturing industries, construction companies, and various others.”
