President Nana Akufo-Addo has vowed to uphold the law by ensuring that any political party or presidential candidate found violating it ahead of the December elections faces appropriate consequences.
Addressing attendees at the commissioning of The Law House in Accra on Monday, June 10, President Akufo-Addo reiterated his administration’s zero-tolerance policy towards legal infractions by political entities.
He reaffirmed his dedication to preserving the rule of law and order in Ghana, especially as the nation approaches the December polls.
Akufo-Addo stressed that the law will be uniformly applied to safeguard the peace, security, and stability of the nation from being jeopardized by the ambitions of any political party or presidential candidate.
“I want to assure the Ghanaian people that law enforcement agencies, including the office of the Attorney General, will exert every effort to maintain law and order in the country at all times, particularly in this critical election year,” he declared.
“We will not permit the peace, security, and stability of our nation, which makes Ghana a beacon on the African continent, to be compromised for the sake of any political party or presidential candidate’s aspirations. This will not be tolerated.”
The Law House, a ten-story building adjacent to the High Court complex, was officially inaugurated by the President and will serve as the new headquarters of the Attorney General and Ministry of Justice.
The project, initiated in 2001 and revived in January 2023, features state-of-the-art facilities including conference rooms, office spaces, parking lots, and dining areas.
