Written by on June 8, 2024

Afro-dancehall sensation Livingstone Etse Satekla, professionally known as Stonebwoy, has initiated legal action against aspiring politician and entertainment critic Sadiq Abdulai Abu, commonly known as Baba Sadiq, for remarks made on his X page (formerly Twitter).

In a writ filed in the High Court of Justice on May 31, 2024, the reigning Ghanaian Artist of the Year seeks an order for Baba Sadiq to delete the offending tweets and issue an unqualified apology to Stonebwoy.

Additionally, Stonebwoy is requesting damages of GHS 3 million for the harm caused to his reputation. He alleges that Baba Sadiq acted maliciously and intentionally defamed him by disseminating false statements.

The lawsuit was expected by those familiar with the circumstances surrounding the tweets. Concerns were raised on social media regarding Stonebwoy’s decision to overlook Sadiq’s troubling comments, which implied that Stonebwoy is a violent abuser of women.

The comments quickly gained traction, sparking intense debates among fans and the broader public. This is particularly noteworthy as Stonebwoy has a well-documented history of advocating for women’s rights and has actively supported various philanthropic endeavors aimed at empowering women.

The filing of the writ underscores the Ghanaian icon’s dedication to safeguarding his esteemed reputation, demonstrating his willingness to utilize legal channels to uphold his rights.
